ADMIRAL SIMMS' PROTEST. AGAINST AWARDING OF HONORS. ! Received Dee. 26, 12.23 p.m. Washington, Dec. E2. Admiral Smi-ns wrote a letter to Mr. Daniels, Minister for the Navy, rlfuning to accept the Distinguished Service Medal on the ground that other natal officers had been inadequately rewarded. The letter points out that the Navy Department awarded honors in many fn, stances contrary to Admiral Simms' recommendations. Both the Senate and the Howe naval committee suggested an inquiry into tha medal awards given to those in thai naval service. \ ' —i ——» : ■" :* PROTEST OX> MEXICO. ' ~ T .
