The forthcoming New Year meeting, promoted by the Weilington Association, will benefit to tha arrangement. ■ • NEWS FROM THE CAPITAL, Wellington, Last Night Mr. Massey has received a communlca* tion from the Imperial Board of Trade, stating that, during the present export season, space in outward vessels- will*bat found for 60,000 cases of appleß and 4000 m \ tons of frozen rabbits. ■ ] In the revenue and expenditure figures ( given by Sir James Allen, it was statefl i that in eight months the expenditure exl \ cecded the revenue by £330,405. In actual \ fact, the expenditure exceeded the revl ( enue by some three millions more than ; this sum. What Sir James Allen said waifl s that the increase in the expenditure i» ' the first eight months of the financial! year had exceeded the increase in revenuei by £330,405. Sir James Allen thinks ifi not at all possible that the .deficit of £3,300,000 will be overtaken before tha end of the year. f No arrangements have been made for the proposed trip by members of Parliament to Samoa early in the year, but negotiations have been opened with the Union Company as to the possibility of obtaining a suitable steamer for the voyage. It is still hoped that a visit by members of Parliament to Samoa will be possible, but, in any event, it is considered that some Ministers should go to the group and examine the conditions there. Owing to the early months of the year being the hurricane season, it may not be possible for the party to leave New Zeti and until about April. If so, there oai be no very early meeting of Parliament! this year.
