M. _ Huglhes, in returning ' 'hanks at Bendigo on the formal declari ation of his election, said that the NaI tionalist victory meant defeat for dis- ■ loyalty, "direct action," Bolshevism, the ■ "go slow" policy, and all that was i mean, paltry and selfish in our midst, , but not the defeat of the Labor cause, i which was as sacred as ever to those who had fought for it. He claimed that the Nationalists have a clear majority of their own in the new Parliament, and he declared that the Nationalist clean sweep of the Senate was too appalling to mention.—Aus.-N.Z.
