Several Sinn Feiner3 were engaged in the affair. They fired a number of bullets, of which two passed through Lord French's motor car, one wounding a cyclist policeman who was . escorting Lord French. The military escort returned the fire, and shot one of the attackers, who was carrying a bomb. There is intense excitement in Dublin. In the House of Commons, Mr. Pherson announced that four bombs were thrown at Lord French. Two detectives Won injured. Two hundred Sinn Feiners raided the Code railway station. Suddenly a whistle was blown, and porters, signalmen, drivers and clerks wye surrounded by lUen, who covered them with revolvers. The whole staff was locked up, Witt an armed guard over them, while, the Sinn Feiners looted all firearms in 'the storts. There were police barracks ill the vicinity, and hundreds of police were asleep, none hearing'of the outrage till three hours afterwards.
