POLICE FOR SAMOA.
FORCE OF RETURNED SOLDIERS. By Telegraph.—Press Assertion. Wellington, Laßt Night. The Samoan constabulary which will replace the New Zealand' garrison at present in Samoa leave by the Main Trunk to-jnonw for Auckland, en route to Samoa.. It comprises 35 mounted and 35 foot police, mostly returned soldiers, who have been specially selected on their character, education, and physique. The force is officered by Major J. C. Hill, Captain G. Prictor, Captain W. Watson, M.C., all returned soldiers, who hold tha titles of Inspector-General, Inspector, Sub-Inspector respectively. Qiief Detective Boddam, of Wellington, is also going as Sub-Inspector. The full dress uniform is navy blue with red facings, white helmet and blue puggaree and the working dress is light drill khaki with helmet. The terms- of enlistment are for three years, with New Zealand police rates of pay with tropical allowances.
