SUNKEN GERMAN FLEET.
SALVAGE OPERATIONS. ALLIES DEMAND SHIPS. London, Dec. 8. In order to satisfy the clamorous demands of France and Italy, the Admir-■ ftlty hag been compelled to undertake extensive salvage operations at Scapa Flow. The United States has waived all claims to the ships, declaring that the German fleet is well Bunk. Great Britain proposed sinking the remaining ships, hut the Allies decided upon a scheme of division. Each Great Power is to receive a German battleship, cruiser, and destroyer, nominally for scientific purposes. It is agreed that these ships shall be destroyed after shipping constructors have completed their studies. France's battleship will be the superdreadnought Baden. Britain has promised to try and raise another for Italy. Other nations will be satisfied with older battleships not yet handed over by Germany. The Allies have specially allocated to France and Italy five cruisers and ten destroyers each. This will require a salvage of at least three cruisers from Scapa Flow. The balance will c'omprise ships not yet handed over, and those which were not sunk.
