Wo quitted the following lines afterwards at prices in favor of purchasers:— Three-year bullocks £9 10s, 2>4-year steers £7 ss, £7 10s. On Friday, 12th Inst., we held-our Usual monthly sale la our Matau yards. There was a fair attendance and nearly all tho sheep and a large portion of the cattle Were sold at prices in favor of purchasers compared with recent ruling values. We quoteFifteonmonth heifers £3 6s, £4 10s, 2-year steer 3 £6 10s, £6 17s 6d, 2-tooth shorn wethers 23s Id, 23s 3d, 24s lOd, 4-year shorn ewes 23s lid. Private sales —Owing to the dryness of the season and feed being scarce the demand for stock is limited, with a falling tendency for all classes of storo cattle and sheep. Mixed woolly hoggets 295, eweß and lambs £2, shorn forward ewes and wethers 28s, 2-tooth wethers (shorn) 265, 2Gs lod, 2-year steers £7.

WAXEATO STOCK MARKETS. Beet.—The settlement of the strike and simultaneous opening of tho' freetltif works have given a very welcome Impetus to the fat stock market. Competition has been remarkably brisk and all stock offering has been eagerly seized. Mutton —Mutton is not offering In any quantity, and Is mostly of plain quality. Competition for this Is also good. Fat lambs ore being keenly sought after both by butchers and exporters, already considerable numbers have found their way to the works, but the general opinion Is that the quality is not equal to last season. _ Store Cattle.—Stores of all descriptions are increasingly dilll and sellers are showing anxiety to unload. This must continue until weather conditions alter. Dairy CatM.—Dairy cattle cannot be reported as steady. At some sales high values are recorded, others produce a contfary result Store sheep ore generally declining, the drop in the last week or so being very marked. However, unless tho dry weather Is to continue & very much better tone is anticipated after the New Year. Pijs.—Bacou pigs still demand good competition, but weaners have shown a marked falling away.
