It is understood that the Air Ministry has recommended his Majesty to confer honors on Captain Ross Smith and his crew. Howell's aeroplane has been found half a from the shore in five fath-1 oms of water. The log shows that Howell flew for eight hours and evidently lost his way. The petrol was sufficteir for eight hours' flight. An Air Ministry communique states that the: Martinsyde. fell into the sea at 8 o'clock on December 9. An Italian motor boat with fishermen arrived too late to save the aviators. Their bodies have npt yet been recovered. The machine is salvable.
