MORE INFLUENZA.
THE CASES WIDELY SCATTERED. I • The Health Inspector (Mr. A. H. Kendall) reported to the Taranaki Hospital Board' yesterday that during the past month 24 cases of infectious disease were notified in the district, comprising two cases of scarlet fever, eight diptheria, one enteric fever, seven pneumonia, and six influenza. These cases were located as follows: In the Taranaki County, 8 cases of diptheria, mostly in the Omata and Hurford Road district, and three cases of pneumonia near Hurangi; in the Borough of New Plymouth, two cases of scarlet fever ,one enteric, and four influenza; at Waitara, one case of pneumonia; at Inglewood, one case pneumonia and one influenza. In the Egmont County, one mild case of influenza at Te Kiri. In the Clifton County, two cases of pneumonia near Waitoitoi.
Owing to influenza and pneumonia not being notifiable diseases in former years, it was impossible to make comparisons. The notifications showed a slight increase for the month, but this was not considered to be in any way alarming, as the cases were widely scattered over the district.
