BAND COMPETITIONS.
The competitions conducted by the Citizens' Band at the Good Templar Hall last night were greeted by a moderate attendance, but some very close and interesting sections took place. Mr C. H. Lawn (Stratford) was the judge, and he had an arduous task in the senior solos and the quartettes. Two ctarinet parties competed, the first to play giving Ji good account of themselves. ° The following are the results:—
Junior Solo.—Syd. Woods (tenor) 43 points, 1; Jack Feek (cornet) 36£ points, 2; Len Sole (cornet) 3-2 points, 3. Intermediate Solo.—A. Blanchett (cornet), 5-1 points, 1; H. Hedlev (cornet), 48, 2; X. Hundley (tenor) 45, 8. Senior Solo.—V. R. Rush (cornet) fiO, and H. Voght (cornet) GG points, equal; A. Handley (trombone), 60|, 3. Quartettes. Rush, Richardson, X. Handley, and Owen, 77* points, 1; Voght, Sole, Woods, Drury, 77, 2; Fedley, Feek, Goodall, Coleman, T6J, 3: Blanchett, Bransgrovc, Des Forges, and A.
