WORKERS' COUNCIL.
LABOR DAY SPORTS BALANCESHEET. At the monthly meeting of the Taranaki Workers' Council, held on Friday evening, the .balance-sheet of the Labor JJay sports committee was submitted for adoption. The result of the efforts on Labor Way, which was practically the first time any attempt had been made to obtain funds was very gratifying to those concerned and was the means of placing the council on a sound financial footing It is pleasing to note that the biggest item m the receipts (£152 lis), was the result of a systematic canvass of the business people, who responded generous- ™ f appeal of the canvassers. • Ihe financial statement is as follows: Receipts.—Sports: Donations £152 lis ?w 77, tS £" *' refr <*hment stall *.»6 Os 6d, afternoon tea «£3O 9s 3d cocoanut shy £l4 13s sd, Citizens' Band c • , ?T Gs ' entran iC fees £5 19s 9d. Social: Door receipt, £26, sale of tickets £l2 9s, soft-drrak stall £6 9s 7d «ale of cakes 9s; total £4lO 13s 6d. Total a J balance-sheet was unanimously Mr V. Duff has audited and signed the biuance-sheet, which is open for inspection to anyone wishing to go into details. °
