SATURDAY COMPETITION. BAIN STOPS PLAT. A start was made with the match between Breezing Works and Old Boys at the Recreation ground on Saturday, Bottrill and , Osborne opening to the bowling of Klnsella and Girling. The former made 10 aifd the latter 21, and there had been three byes, when rain stopped the play. Ths Incompleted match between High School and TUcorangl was resumed on the High School ground. The country team required 55 runs to pass the total of 184 which the School compiled on the flrsi day, and they accomplished the task and won the match before rain necessitated ceasing play. The Junior match, Walreka v. Whlteley, was proceeded far enough to permit Walreka to total 90 runs for (We wickets—Morrison 24 Gajlard 17, Brokenshlre 16, E. Hoffman 14. .TBIAL MATCH. Messrs. Lash, Bottrill, and Clegg, selectors, have selected the following teams for a match to be played at the Recreation Grounds, New Plymouth, on Saturday next:—(A) Stalnton, Johnson, Heskett, Clarke, Hassell, Lash, Robertson, Osborne, Eggleston, Palmer, Bottrill. (B) QulUlam, Blundell, Wilson, Monteath, Mackay, Sutherland, Partridge, Bewley, Qulckfall, Dlninlss, Eggleton. Play will commence at 2 o'clock, and any player unable to take part is requested to notify Mr. Stalnton immediately. Prom the above teams the representative team to play against the "Nomads" will be selected.
