CAPTAIN ROSS SMITH, NEARING AUSTRALIA. By Telegraph.—Preas Assn.—Copyright. Received Dec. 7, 5.5 p.m. Batavia, Dec. 6. Captain Ross Smith passed Batavia at 3.25 this afternoon. He arrived and landed at Kalidjotte at four o'clock. Interviewed, he stated that he was starting at daylight to-morrow for Sourabaya. It was a four hours' flight if the weather was favorable. In any case he was within four days of Australia. Dutch flying officers carried him shoulder high on arrival at Kalidjotte, and they carried him to the Governor-Gen-eral, who welcomed him.—Aus.-N.Z.
