The Government has decided to grant free passages to ex-service men from India or other stations outside Europe to the Dominions under the Overseas Settlement Scheme, provided the overseas Governments approve. The Australian authorities have authorised a grant of free third-class passages to any Australian soldiers who have taken their discharge oversea and may now desire to return to A'lstwliu. TAURANGA HARBOR. A PROGRESSIVE POLICY. By Telegraph—Press Association. Tanranga, Yesterday. The Harbor Board yesterday decided to adopt tl.e suggestion of Mr. Blair Mason to hire either the Auckland Harbor Board'? bucket dredge 121 or the Westport Board's dredge Ruby Seddon, for the purpose of dredging a duannel to the town wharf to accommodate steamers up to 20 feet draught. It was also decided to ask the VahtsrCeneral to prepare a valuation roll for the Harbor District as a preliminary to taking a poll to raise £107,750 to carry out Mr. Blair Mason's scheme of improvements. With this expenditure the harbor will rank next to the present main ports of the Dominion.
