China has accepted the surrender of Mongolia's autonomy and promised the fullest protection to Mongols. It is explained that they feared an imminent Bolshevik invasion. . EX-KING NICHOLAS. London, Dec. 1. According to the French press exKing Nicholas of Montenegro is living in luxurious retirement at Neuilly. When informed of D'Anmrazio's threat to go to Montenegro, he exclaiinea: "Thank God there are still poets in the world." Senator H. C. Lodge (Leader of the Republicans), in a statement, said that the reservations did not nullify the Treaty and that they "were designed solely to protect, the safety and independence of the sovereignty of the United States- These reservations constituted the irreducible minimum, and immaterial verbal changes would be foolish and needless. If President Vv'iison desired to have a prompt ratification of the Treaty he need only accept the reservations as they stood—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
