A BABY'S DEATH.

BODY IN A WASH-HOUSE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. ABhburton, La3t Night. The police received advice yesterday evening that the body of a newly-born male infant had been found at the residence of J. Bishop, at TinwalU, between the copper and the wall of a wash-house. The body was removed to the morgue, where a post mortem was held this morning. This afternoon an inquest was held before Mr. J. Cow, District Coroner. Dr. T. Petty deposed that the child had been born alive, and death was due to strangulation with a piece of tape, which he produced. Subsequently he examined a girl named Katherine Small, who admitted she was the mother of the child. The inquest was adjourned for a week, the Coroner intimating that criminal proceedings would follow.
