TECHNICAL COLLEGE.
, THE ANNUAL SPORTS. SUCCESSFUL GATHERING. The Director of the- Technical College (Mr. A. L. Moore), and those associated with him in the conduct of the annual sports meeting in connection with the college, which was held in the Recreation Grounds yesterday, have every„reason to congratulate themselves on the success achieved. This year girls' sports were also held, and the authorities decided to run them simultaneously with the boys' sports on the same ground. So complete was the organisation that there was not the slightest hitch, and the big double programme of events, either of which would have taxed many athletic clubs to run off in a couple of days, was completed right up to time. v
The day was a perfect one, and the sports attracted a good attendance of spectators, all of whom were greatly pleased with the 1 afternoon's enjoyment. The keenness with which the competitors, both boys and girls, entered into the, various events, the closeness of the finishes, and the arrangements generally, appealed to all, and it is safe to say that if the present high standard is maintained, the Technical College sports will be looked toward to as one of the events of the year. The officiate all knew their work, and did it, the ladies who controlled the girls' events proving quite equal to the occasion. The principal officials were:—Boys' Sports: Judges, Messrs. F. Sandford, R. D. Kirkpatrick, C. Fincham; gtarter; Mr. A. L. Moore; timekeeper, Mr. Garnham; marksmen, Messrs. H. H. Skelton and ,1. W. Connell; result official, Mr. G. H. White; hon. secretary, T. Bailey. Girls' Sports: Judges, Mesdames Moore, Kirkpatrick, Skelton, Miss Sandford, Miss Goy; starter, Mr. G. S. Crimp; timekeeper, Mr. C. H. Moore; marksmen, Mrs. Woods, Miss Jensen; result official, Miss Hannah; hon. sec, Miss L. Aroa. Afternoon tea was dispensed in a spacious marquee by the girls of the college, whose working class provided all the' dainty edibles, which were much appreciated by those present. This department was in charge of Misses Heward (domestic science mistress), Dean, and Mrs. Lambert. Detailed results are as follows:
