THE VICTORY AT HAMEL. TURNING POINT ON WESTERN FRONT. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright, London, Nov. 30. General Sir John Monaßh, in the Sunday Times, describes the' Australian victory at Hamel in July, 1918, as the first offensive operation by any of the Allies since the autumn of 1917; and says that it marked the termination of the purely defensive attitude on the British front. It excited examination in many quarters' into the possibilities of offensive action on similar lines, "and changed the British, attitude of mind. This change bore a rich harvest a few weeks later.—Aus.-NZ. Cable Assn.
