A meeting of the Ngaere branch of the W.C.T.U. was held at the residence of Mrs Tarrant on Tuesday, Mrs Jones presiding. Arrangements were made for providing those assisting in connection with the licensing poll with refreshments on the day of the election. It was decided to assist in sending a delegate to the World's Convention. Local grocers have exhausted their stocks of certain lines usually much in demand at this time of the year. Candied peel and sultanas are unobtainable, and figs are very scarce. Stocks of sugar are also low, and the public are threatened with an exhaustion of supplies. Loaf sugar is not procurable. There is some evidence that the Stratford Domain Board still exists. Lately a trifle has been expended in cutting the grass on each side of the path known as the round tour, and a new track has been formed for a short distance at the descent to the Patca river, a't ttie western end of the park. The river at this point is still unbridged, and the planks over which it was once possible to cross the stream in safety have not been replaced since a flood of many weeks ago. swept them out-of position. Since the printing of the show catalogue the following donations have been received by the A. and P. Association: W. Mayhead and W. Perry £5 6b each, Rawles and Kawles and W. H. H. Young £2 $s each, W. V. Hoskin £i i s c. James 12,/fi, A. Moon 10/6. The half-yearly installation of officers in connection with the Druids' Lodge took place in St. Andrews' Hall last evening. Visitors were present from Wellington, Hawera, Inglewood, Waitara end Patea. Bro. J. Grant, Grand Secretary, explained the consolidation scheme brought down by the Grand Lodge executive, an« n vote by members proved strongly in its favor." The following officers were installed by the District President (Bro. WarcUp, of Hawera Lodge): A.D., Bro. E. D. Evans; V. A., Bro. Chas. Liddingtoh; Secretary, Bro. Thos. Richardson; 'Treasurer, Bro. Burmester; I. G., Bro. G. Dudding; 0 G., Bro. E. Fenwick; AM.. Bros. C.' Reynolds and J. Hancock; V.A.8., Bros. B. Rowc and R. Susans, Chief Steward Bro. J. H. Sharrock. After the installation a roll of honor containing about 20 names was unveiled in the Foresters' Hall by Bro. J. N". Grant. Of tliose whose names appear on the roll one gained the Military Cross, another the D.C.M.. and a third the Military Medal! An excellent supper was served and the usual toasts were honored. The toast to "Our Boys" was proposed hv 8r0.'.1! N. Grant and was responded to by Major Hine. A number of musical and other items were -riven, Bro. C. H. Fox presided at the piano.
