DEMAND FOR WOOL.

OUTLOOK FOR GROWERS. London, Nov. 14. The Times, referring to the extraordinary bidding at the recent wool sales, snys that the prices caused a sensation in Bradford, which is at present enjoying great prosperity, and manufacturers are anxious and buy warily. Manufacturers also rega'rd the quickening of Continental competition with some nervousness. The' manager of Dalgety's wool department describes the soaring prices as absolutely artificial, and says that they cannot be taken as a guide for the immediate future, though he thinks relatively high figures are likely to rule for a* considerable time. In any case growers are entitled to remain cheerful. Bradford has some fear that the Government intends to further accelerate the release of wool in the hope of lowering prices. Apparently this fear is unfounded. The Times points out that the Government remembers that it is bound by its contract to consider the interests of the Australian and New Zealand growers, who are entitled to share in the profits. < It is recognised that owing to the tremendous world demand the risk of handling Australian merinos below mere fancy prices is slight. The present outlook suggests that freedom from Government control in dealing with Continental Europe might easily be the best move.
