.PICTURESQUE RECEPTION. London, Nov. S. A deputation of Basuto chiefs, bended by the paramount chief, Griffiths, who are on a visit to Britain from South Africa. have been extensively feted. Today they were received at Buckingham Palace by the King, to whom they prevented -loyal addresses, "to assure Your Majesty face to face of our devotion." The Kins; replied, picturesquely employing the Basuto mode of speech:— "Paramount chief and chiefs, I greet you. I am pleased to receive your homage. 1 am glad to know that the Basuto nation remains as loyal and devoted to me as to my revered' father, 'Edward, anil before to my revered grandmother, Victoria." "I am »lad to have your cangratitl:; tions on the signal victory which lias rewarded the efforts of my forces ami those of my Allies in the Great War. I received your petition, and have handed it to my counselor and Secretarv of State for the Colonies, and before you go back to your country he will {five yon my reply. I wish you a safe return to Easutoland. Paramount chief and chiefs, I have spoken." '
