COST OF LIVING BONUS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Dec. 1. In the Arbitration Court to-day Mr. Justice Stringer made a pronouncement in respect to the additional bonus to be granted on the report of the Government Statistician in regard to the cost of living and the increase in prices. He stated that the bonus had been estimated at Id per hour, in addition to the 2'Ad per hour in all for the worker paid by the hour. For workers paid j by the week the additional tonus would amount to 4s per week. The extra bonus would be made due from January 1 next and, as there was not machinery to make the awarding of it automatic and it would take some time to hear all applications, the award would be made retrospective to January 1, 1920, in each case. At it will be necessary to take each case on its merits formal application must he filed by all unions wishing to take advantage of the provision.
