FIRE ON A SHIP.
NEW ZEALAND LINER, THE OUTBREAK EXTINGUISHED. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Dec. 2, 11.55 p.m. London, Dec. 1. The fire on the Swakopimind has been extinguished. It was apparently due to spontaneous combustion. The cargo consisted entirely of copra, of which all but live hundred tons was discharged before the outbreak. About 220 tons was totally destroyed. • The prompt extinction was due to a lucky chance that two floating fire engines, whicii had been working on tli3 I'rinz Hubertus, were still in dock, and were able to Btart a few minutes after the outbreak was reported.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. [The Swakopmund is an ex-German liner, which is now flying the flag of the New Zealand Shipping Company. A cable was published yesterday, reporting the outbreak of Are, Tha Prinz Hubertus mentioned in the cable is also an exGerman liner. She was seriously damaged by fire a week or two ago.]
