The election was hold as a result of the resignation of Commander Craig. [At the general elections Commander Norman Craig, who resigned a few weeks ago, was elected unopposed. Received Dec. 3, 1.55 a.m. London, Dec. 1. _ Lady Astor, interviewed after her election victory, said that a new spirit of citizenship was struggling to the surface. That spirit was necessary for reconstruction. War profiteers and Bolsheviks, if they had their way, would make the country jjjpt a home for heroes, but a den of thieves. [Lady Astor was elected for Plymouth to fill the vacancy caused by her husband's elevation to the peerage on his father's death,} A MEMBER'S RESIGNATION'. Received Dec. 3, 1.16 a.m. . . Mr. Christopher Lowther, a member of the House of Commons, has resigned, as lie disagrees with the Government continually pandering to Labor, and also because of the appalling waste,—Reuter Service. CRITICISM OF CURRENT POLITICS. Received Dec. .1, 12.15 a.m. London, Nov. 2S. Mr. H. H. Asquith, speaking at Birmingham, criticised the Coalition Government for allowing Sinn Fein to become the dominant factor in Irish national life. He said that the Anti-Dumping Bill wa- unpopular. Even tariff reformers regarded it as pernicious. Mr. Asquith described the British as the arch-dumpers of the world, and added that if we penalised dumpers wo would suffer most.
