Commenting on Pattorson's defeat of Brookes critics refer to the paralysing pace of his unbridled hitting by a succession of smashing strokes compelling a force which completely smothered opposition. There was on exception in the second se(, when Brookes showed a glimpse of his 1914 form and proved himself a supreme genius of tactical ingenuity and all .that makes for artistry In tennis.—Aus.-N.Z.
