THE RIMU HELD UP.
TROUBLE AT ONEHUNGA. NORTHERN COMPANY DISLOCATION By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night.' Twelve of the Northern Company's steamers are held up in port to-day owing to a deadlock in regard to the question of holding an early conference to discuss the new agreement between the owners and the Merchant Service Guild. The old agreement expired on October 22, and the owners informed the Guild that a conference could not take place until after Christmas., The date was subsequently altered to December 15. The Guild then demanded a conference by next Friday, and after further negotiations the Northern Company offered to meet the Guild on December 9th. Members of the Guild are considering S*i situation and meanwhile vessels are held up. A Consignment of 60 tons of sugar, which was intended for despatch to New Plymouth from Onehunga by the steamer Rimu to-day, was not placed on board. The watersidprs refused to handle it on account of the fact, it is stated, that there is a shortage of sugar in Onehunga, with the result that in some cases it was impossible to obtain supplies during the week end.
