I understand tiiat the 7500 carcase,?, which were to have been shipped to xieiV Plymouth to be loaded on the Kia Ora, are to be loaded here, as tiie vessel is stoppin;: outside Wailara to take the Mr. W. C t Johnson, tiie borough electrical engineer, has resigned his poshion with the borough. He is leaving at the end of February. The annual meeting of the Waitum Seaside Improvement and ScHbalh :ig , Society was held last night. There was j a very poor attendance, only elcicn | members of the committee .being- pivs--1 ent. In the annual report mention wa» | made of the death of one of its pioneer members, Mr. C. V. Turner, and a suggestion made that a fitting memorial, something useful and permanent, be erected to his memory. This was lefi to the committee to decide upo'n what form it should® alee. A statement ol veceiots and expenditure was read, which showed that the - w,r° ■CI-U 10s Sd. and the expenditure £9B 3s 7d. overdraft at beginning of year .5? 10s lOd, balance at October 31, 191!) bank £22 7s 3d, cash in hand £1 4s, which is a very satisfactory position <if' affairs. The balance-sheet showed assets £213 15s Sd and liabilities £1 Is lid. t The balance-sheet was adopted. Mr. R. Morgan (Mayor) was elected patron; Mr. A. W. Ogle, president: Messrs D. Campbell, R. Gribbon, E. Beekbessinger, J. Blair, G. P. Walker, and W. A. Marlow, vice-presidents; Mr. A. J. Anns, secretary and treasurer, and Mr. E. Beckbessinger, auditor. THc following committee was elected: Mesdames Beekbessing-er, Anns, Brabant. Aubrey, Spurdle, Jones. Brassington, Nosworthv and Blanehnrd. The secretary was granted £5 5s as an honorarium. Men's committee. Messrs L. H. Sampson, J. f.aing, E. A, Hawkins. G. Bird, G. Nosworthy, C. P. Dugdali, ,J. C. Btanchard, E. Huffaw, A. Pizziy, T. Fowler. The annual subscription \yns fixed nt 2/6 for adults and 7/0 for families up to the age of 16 years. The committee will decide whether to have an opening day in January or not.
