Cable Assn. [ CABLE DELAYS. London, Nov 1 . 25. Tn the House of Commons Sir W. H. Cowan affirmed that cablegrams from Australasia were now rarely transmitted without mutilation, necessitating repetitions. Mr. Illingworth. replying, said the pressure on the cables which existed in war time had not yet ceased, and the risk of error in transmission exceeded the normal. There was no reason to think the percentage of errors had greatly increased. The cable authorities concerned were making an effort to imPiove both the accuracy and rapidity. CANADIAN TARIFF READJUSTEDOttawa, Nov. 25. Canadian manufacturers have asked the Federal Government to appoint a ptrmanent advisory committee to investigate the readjustment of the tariff in order to meet the changing conditions at home and abroad. They have also requested that the proposed revision following the Federal Cabinet's inquiry should be postponed. The Government assented to the tost I request, but refused the other, claiming that they were pledged to tariff revision in the next session of Parliament and would carry out the promise.—Aus.-N.Z.
