Under the auspices of the Hawera •Sports and Pastimes Club a successful inaugural meeting was held on Wednesday. Following are the results:— Schoolboys' Race, 100 yards.—lst heat: Pacey (scr.) 1, A. Flavella (3yds.) 2; time, 12<|secs. 2nd. heat: G. Flavell (scr.) 1, Gray (3yds) 2; time 12 2-5. 3rd heat: Martin (scr.) 1, James (10yds) 2; time, 13. 4th heat: O'Eegan (scr.) 1, Gould (scr) 2; 12 2-5. Final: Pacey 1, A. Flavell 2; time 12secs. Including heat winners, 27 boys competed for this prize. Junior Steeplechase, about 3 miles R. E. Wells 1, A. James 2, C. Parkinson 3. Won by 50 yards, the third boy the same distance away. Time, 15min 4sec. Junior Steeplechase.—J. Honey 1, R. Sage 2, A. Clarke 3. A good finish between the placed men. Time, ISmin 40secs. 100 yds. Handicap (op"en).—lst. heat: M. Brown (2yds) 1, G. Youths' |?ace (18 years and under), 100yds.—Brown 1, Lett 2, Prouse 3. Time, 12secs. 220 yds Handicap Weir, ser) 1, Wilson (10yds) 2, Procter (10yds) 3. Ten started.
