WEDDING.
SMEATOX-McLACHLAN. (From a Correspondent). A very pretty wedding of unusual interest in the Warea district was celebrated in the Methodist Cluifb, Okato, on Wednesday, the liJth November, the contracting parties being Miss Elma Smeaton, youngest daughter of the «ae IV. 0. Smeaton, of Warea and formerly of Pahiatua, and" Mr. J. McLachlan. of Morrinsville. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. C. Strand, of Opunake, assisted by the Rev. J. 0. Mill, formerly of Pahiatua, a very old friend of the bride!s family. The' bride, who \ was giv cn away by' her brother-in-law ; (Mr. 0. Parker), looked charming m a : very pretty frock of white frosted crepe with Swiss embroideries, touches of sil- ■ ver, and the customary veil and orange , blossoms. Her bouquet was composed of white roses, orange blossom and maiden hair fern. The bridesmaids were Miss bangley, Miss Myrtle Parker (niece). . and Miss Nancy McGuire (cousin of the ; bride). Miss Langley, the chief bridesmaid, wore a very dainty white embroidered organdie muslin frock, with a pale pink crepe de chine hat, with touches of ; amethyst. Her bouquet was composed of pale pink roses and maiden hair fern. Miss Nancy McGuire's frock was of white hand-embroidered silk, with helio- , trope sash and-hat to match. Miss Myrtle Parker wore a white embroidered voile with a pale 'blue sash and pale blue hat to match. Each small bridesmaid carried a dainty basket of foliage and flowers to match her frock. Mr. Elwin Clothier, cousin of the bridegroom, acted as best man. The oouquets and table decorations, which were greatlv admired, were the work of Mrs S. Wells.
I A large number of guests attended the ceremony, and were afterwards entertained at "Glenmore" by Mrs. C. Parker sister of the bride. Between seventy and eighty guests s-*at down to the wedding'breakfast, which was held in a large marquee on the lawn, where the usual toasts were honored. Bev. C. Strand, in a happy speech, proposed the health and happiness of the bride and bridegroom, which was drunk with musical honors. Rev. J. C. Mill endorsed the Rev. C- Strand's remarks, mentioning the great respect and honor in which the bride's family were held in Pahintua. The happy couple motored to New Plymouth, en. route for their future home at Walton, Waikato. The bride's travelling dress was a smart navy blue costume and lint of pnle pink crepe de chine. The happy couple were the recipients of a large number of handsome and useful presents, including many cheques.
