TOTAL £9,137,000,000. ' According to a return of the war debts and other public liabilities of all parts of the Empire, compiled by the Government Statistician of Australia, the total indebtedness of the Commonwealth rank* next to that of the United Kingdom, the figures being: United Kingdom, te7,435,000,000; Australia, £700,000,000. Calculated on a per capita basis, however, New Zealand comes first, with a debt or £l7O per head of the population, followed by the Ujaited Kingdom with !£I«P, and Australia with £137.
