SCHOOL CRICKET.
HEATHOOTE WILLIAMS SHIELD. CHALLENGE FROM NEW . PLYMOUTH. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. Auckland Grammar School retains the Heathcote Williams cricket shield, defeating King's College to-day by eight wickets. In their first innings yesterday King'* College scored 140 (Murray 22,'Phillips 43). Bowling foj- Grammar Dunning took 5 wickets for 70, Jaggs 2 for 35, and Burns one for 24. Grammar School replied with 118 (Badeley 515, Postles 27). Bowling for King's College Philips took 4 wickets for 32, Gee 3 for 35, and Heard 1 for 27. In their second innings King's College had scored 65 for the loss of 3 wickets. Continuing to-day, the innings closed for 136 (Farquhar 34, Gee 28). Bowling for Grammar Postles took 8 wickets for 25, Badeley one for 20, and Dunning one for 22. Grammar knocked off the deficiency for the loss of only two wickets, Badeley scoring 36, Postles 58 (not out); and Stretton 58 (not out). For King"* Heard took one wicket for 65, Gee one for 35. The New Plymouth High School plajr Grammar School for the Shield on Dei cember 1« and 17.
