The Italian delegates to the Labor Conference are pressing the principle of reciprocity of workers' rights, -whereby States reciprocally admit the benefit of Labor laws as well as the right of the lawful organisation of workers belonging to one of these States, but employed in another. SUICIDE OF AN ATHLETE, Received Nov. 25, 5.5 p.m. Vancouver, Nov. 24. Charles Beresford, an Australian athlete, a survivor of the Halifax explosion who eerved in tho Navy during the war, shot himself with a revolver. At the inquest a verdict was returned that he committed suicide during a nervous breakdown. PARIS NEWSPAPER STRIKE. Paris, Nov. 21. The newspaper strike is collapsing. The men are convinced that the proprietors; are unable to pay the wages demanded.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. A FOOLISH HOAX. * New York, Nov. 21. While the Vice-President, Mr. T. R. Marshall, was speaking at the City Auditorium at Atlanta, Georgia, he received a telephone message: "Wilson is dead; come to Washington immediately." There was a sensation among the audience, women weeping and singing hymns. Later it was discovered that the message was a hoax by a practical joker.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. I POOD IN SOUTH AFRICA. Capetown, Nov. 24. The Government is taking action against the cornering of food supplies in the western provinces. A dealer who obtained control of the available supplies of oats was ordered to sell 30,000 bags or have his stock expropriated; he chose to sell.—Reuter. THE U.S. AND MEXICO. New York, Noy. 21. The United States has sent a Note to Mexico, stating that anv further molestation of Mr. Jenkins, the American Consul agent who was captured by brigajids, would seriously affect the relations between the United States and Mexico.
