FIRES.
OUTBREAK AT FEATHERSTON. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Carterton, Nov. 25There was a fire at Featherston at 4 o'clock this morning. Some packingcases in an alley-way between B. Clark's bootshop and F. Keen's, hairdresser, caught fire. The fire spread to both buildings. Clark's stock was saved, buit was damaged heavily by water and he was a heavy loser. There were light insurances on both buildings. HORSES AND STABLE DESTROYED. Dunedin, Last Night. A fire broke out at 8.30 to-night in a stable belonging to Malcolm Stevenson, contractor, situated in Anderson's Bay Road, resulting in the destruction of nine horses, also the loss of harness and considerable damage to plant. The origin, of the fire is a mystery. The horses, plant, and harness were insured in the Atlas Office, but the amount is not ascertainable.
