THE POLITICAL SITUATION.

(To the Editor.) Sir,—Within a few weeks tho electors will he called upon to elect the men whom they think most capable of carrying on tho affairs of the country. Wo have capable men in the Liberal and Labor ranks, who, if elected, will spend their last ounco of energy to better tho present unsatisfactory state of affairs. There should not bo any considering as to. which is the right way to vote. Wo have had enough of Reform, antl Labor Is not sufficiently organised to expect to win a majority of seats so as to form a government of their own. Therefore, it would be wise far Liberal and Labor to unite in electorates where a split voto is likely to lose a seat to either Liberal or Labor give Reform a win. Men belonging to the Labor Party cannot expect to win seats in the Tarannki province. It is not a Labor supporting province. It is Liberal, or will be after tho election, if Labor does tho right thing, which Is to support tho Liberal candidates. It Is impossible to select a man with tho ability of pleasing everybody, and it is just as impossible to dnftv up a pollcv that will fulfil the requirements of all classes. That there are faults in the Liberal policy must be admitted, as there also is in the Labor policy. Neither is perfect, but by combining the two *vo can get a. Liberal government, Labor can organise ahd deliver their views in electorates where they have no possible chance of winning without contesting the seat. By so doing they would not be endangering the chance of a Liberal candidate which might mean another three years of the so-called Reform.—l am, etc., W.M. New Plymouth, Nov. 24, 1919.
