THE PRISONS BOARD.

[VISIT-TO NEW PLYMOUTH. Tlie members of the Prisons Board arrived in New Plymouth by the mail train Inst night. The party consists of Sir Robert Stout, Chief Justice, Sir George Fen wick, Mr. C. E. Matthews, Comptroller-General of Prisons, Mr. C. J. B. Jordan, Under-Secretary for Justice. Dr. F. Hay, Inspector-General of Mental Hospitals, Mr. Win. Reecc, of Christchurch, and Mr. Edwin, Hall, of Auckland. The Board is engaged on its periodical visit to the prisons and prison camps. It first visited the camps at Roto Aira, near Waimarino, and Kaingaroa, and then proceeded to Auckland. From Auckland the Board proceeded to Waikeria prison, near Te Awamutu, thence proceeding to New Plymouth. The Board will spend to-day here and proceed to Wellington to-toorrow morning.
