The Daily Chronicle says the Government intends to deal firmly with the Egyptian situation and will not be intimidated by the extremists. The gravity of the recent disorders is recognised, but a considerable section of the inhabitants strongly disapproves of the actions of the extremists, which are fostered by alien agitators. The Home Government supports the firm stand of Field Marshal Lord Alienby (the High Commissioner in Egypt;-. The view held is that the Egyptians are suffering from nerves owing to the war, especially the large illiterate section, and thus provide exxcellent material for agi-tators.—Alls.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
