Addison (Minister for Health), defending the Government's housing tetanies, said the department approved of forty aeven thousand acres now being laid ont (sufficient for half a million house*. The present cost of building Mid labor and the delays affecting maferial and transport were blocking the tchemes, and the tenders were too high. Mr. Lloyd George, in the House of Commons, replying to criticisms, said that the shortage of houses was a contributory cause of the disquiet and unrest. The shortage was interfering with increased production of food and the stability of labor.
