REPATRIATION.
NEW PLYMOUTH COMMITTEE. A meeting of the Now Flymouth Repatriation Committee was held last evening. Present, —Messrs. C. 11. Weston (chairman), W. J. Chancy, T. Furlong, C. Carter, F. W. Okey, R. J. Clarke, E. Whittle, J. E. Rowlands, H. R. Cattley, P. Hartnell, and the secretary (Mr. A. S. Allen). The secretary reported having received advice from the secretary of the Repatriation Board, Wellington, of Captain F. Hartnell's appointment as the representative of the Returned Soldiers' Association, in place of Mr. 15. B. Ellerm, resigned. The chairman welcomed Mr. Hartnell to the Board. It was resolved to place on record the Committee's application of Mr. Ellerm's services whilst a member of the Committee. The secretary reported that one man was placed in employment, and that there were five on the unemployed register. The following loans were recommended for approval:— £2OO to purchase a motor delivery cart; £3OO for motor lorry; £275 for motor truck. An application for a loan of £"0 to purchase a motor cycle and side ear was deferred for further investigation. A £SO loan was granted towards the cost of starting a tea-room business. Seven loans of £SO each for furniture were granted, also a loan of £lO to purchase joiners' tools. An application for a sustenance allowance whilst training in engineering at the Technical College, New Plymouth, was referred to the executive for further investigation. An apprentice rfesuming his indenture was granted financial assistance,
