(From Our Own Correspondent.) ' Nov. 22. Mr. T. .T. JtcDarltt, who was on the staff of the local l'ost Office bol'oro going iu me iront, has again joined the staff. At the monthly meeting of (lie Waltnra Repatriation Committee last Wednesday, only two applications were received for a loan for furniture, and one for £250 to build additions to a house, and £SO for furniture. | Boih applications for furniture were granted, but the application -for loan to Improve tne! house was referred lo the Land Hoard. Twenty-four dozen esss wero collected by the Stale school children In answer to an appenl by the Plmikct Society for funds. Each child was asked tn bring an egg it possible, with tho above result. Mr. ,T, Parry, who bought out the shop of the Misses Purdie, is having the. shop enlarged considerably. Tho Waitara Tennis Club opened lis season on Thursday. Although the weather was threatening in the morning it cleareu up in the .-ilternoon, and tho courts were in good order Tito president (Mr. S. G. Praser), thanked the members for electing him president, and assured them ho would do his best in tho interests of the club, and welcomed those members who. had returned from the front. Mr. A. Hawkins had got the courts again in good order, ami Mr. ),. Johnstone had resumed tho duties of secretary. Ho then declared the cour's open. At tho president's call, cheers were given for the members who had been to the front, and also to the new members who had done their bit.
