LORD JELLICOE'S REPORT. NO IMMEDIATE ACTION. By Telegraph —P.-ess Assn.—Conyrleht. Received Nor. 21, 7.40 p.m. London, Nov. 18. Major David Davies inquired in the House of Commons at whose instigation Admiral Jellicoe visited Australia, and what action the Admiralty was taking in connection with Lord .Te'llicoVs recommendation to maintain a far Eastern fleet at an annual cost of £ iri,7!>o,ooo. Mr. Walter Long (First Lord of the Admiralty), replied that Lord Jellicoc's tour was undertaken in compliance, and at the request of the Dominion governments. The Admiralty suggested Lord Jelliooc's name and made the actual arrangements for, the tour. Lord .Tellicoe's recommendations will need careful consideration, firstly, by the Government to which the* re'flommendations were preliminary addressed, and, secondly, by the Admiralty and Imperial Government when they 'are consulted. There is no question at present of any immediate action being taken in consequence of Lord .Tellicoe's report, which involve increased ehargse on the Imperial exchequer.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
