Sir Auckland Geddes (president of the Board of Trade), addressing the Industrial League, said that the country was employing "three hundred thousand more men and women than before the wai\ It is estimated it will be necessary to employ another million, making 15% million in-all trades, as the expansion of industries increases. "We are Bearing the moment when a check will come and nothing gave the Government more anxiety," he added. It was essential to produce more coal. There must be close co-operation between all parties in order to solve the difficulty.
