Herr Hertzog visited Johannesburg, and with a procession of 1000 Nationalists marched to the Town Hall. A great crowd gathered outside and made angry demonstrations. A strong force of police alone averted disturbances. The attempts of. the Nationalist leaders to deliver speeches were prevented. Received Nov. 22, 12.50 a.m. Capetown, Nov. 21. Johannesburg was seething with excitement last night during a visit of a Nationalist deputation. There were many fights between groups of exsoldiers and Nationalists. The latter stoned a balcoi.y containing women and children, and ex-soldiers retaliated by smashing the windows of the Nationalist Party Club. The mounted police attempted to clear the streets, but the disturbances continued until stopped by heavy rain.— Aus.-N.Z. Cable Asßn.
