Cable Assn. CANADIAN VICTORY LOAN. Ottawa, Nov. 17. It is announced that the Victory Loan subscriptions total 000 million dollars. NEW FLAG SUGGESTED. London, Nov. 17. The Empire Day Committee decided to urge the Governments of the Empire to adopt a new flag combining the Union Jack and symbols of the dominions, colonies, and India.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. OPPONENT FOR MR. LLOYD GEORGE. London, Nov. 17. Mr, R, T. Jones, secretary of the North Wales Quarrymen's Union, lias been nominated and will oppose the Premier at the next election. THE UNEMPLOYMENT DONATION. London, Nov. 19. In the House of Commons Mr. Bonar Law stated that the Government was stopping the unemployment donations to civilian men and women on the 21st, but paying ex-service men 20s and women 15s for nine weeks until March 31. . " The Government was now formulating a scheme for unemployment insurance. HIGHWAY ROBBERY. London, Nov. 17. The biggest highway robbery during recent years occurred in north-west Cork. Masked thieves, wearing their clothes inside out and bags tied over their boots, held up two bank managers going to a- fair and robbed them of £13,000. The managers were armed with revolvers, but were gagged and tied up. to the wheels of a cart while' the highwaymen emptied the moneybags and escaped.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. THE VLADIVOSTOK REVOLUTION. Received Nov. 20, 5 p.m. Washington, Nov. 19. The State Department has received advice from Vladivostok that the revolution has been quelled. A BOMB PLOT. Washington, Nov. If). A plot was discovered in Philadelphi: to kill Federal officials by means o bombs in Christmas parcels. It is al leged the scheme discovered is due to tinoperations of the I.W.W.
