TARANAKI J.C. CHRISTMAS MEETING.

The Taranaki Jockey Club, judging by the flna programing advertised for the Christmas meeting, which will take place on December 20 and 27, is making a bold lid for patronage in the coming holiday season, and horse-owners and trainers would to well adPised to carefully peruse the menu offered in New Plymouth beforo making arrangements for Taclng their horses elsewhere. Sixteen events are carded, eight each day, and the programme includes two distance races and a similar number of sprints in the open class. The distance handicaps are the Christmas Handicap, of 300 sovs., 1% miles, and the New Plymouth Handicap, of 200 sovs., 1 mile and 110 yards. For sprinters there will be the flying Handicap, of 200 sovs., and the Inglewood Handicap of 150 sovs., hoth tun. over six furlongs. Hack hurdlers are tfell catered for, the Rahotu Hack Hurdles, of 175 sovs., and tho Tarata Hack Hurdles, of 150 sovs., both being run over ,1% miles and 100 yards. Hack flat events are carded as follows: tokl (Maiden) Plate, of 150 sovs., 7 furlongs.; Stewards' Hack Handicap, of 175 sovs., 6 furlongs; Borough Hack Handicap, of 150 sovs., 5 furlongs; Leppertora Welter Hack Handicap, of 150 sovs., 7 furlongs; Tikorangl Hack Stakes, ojf 125 sora.„ 5 furlongs; Fltzroy (Maiden) Hack Handicap, of 125 sovs., 7 furlongs; Summer Hack Handicap, of 150 sovs., 6 furlongs; Warea Hack Stakes, of 125 sovs., 5 furlongs; TJrutl Welter Hack Handicap, of 125 sovs., 1 mile and 110 yards; and Electric Hack Handicap, of 125 sovs., 5 furlongs. Mr. H. Coyle, whose haudicapping has found •uch favor in Taranaki, will attend to the weights; Mr. Alf. Morse the storting, and Mr. J. Cameron will be in the judge's box. The secretary, Mr. E. P. Webster, will supply oil particulars required, and will receive nominations for all events up to Friday, November 21, at 9 p.m.

Seven remain in the Tesehemaker Memorial Handicap, Wi miles, and the top-weight, Bonnetter, who scored so handsomely at Riccarton on Saturday, is likely to be 'sent Oat a good favorite. A similar number figure in the Plying Handicap, 6 furlongs, and hero again another hot order will be served up in Bon Spec. The latter's performances at tho Canterbury Metropolitan meeting were disappointing, but he showed improve! form as the gathering advanced, and should shqw up better in smaller fields. In the minor events San Sebastian, Too Chow, Burrangong, and AH Serene look likely customers. The weather promises to be fine for the Ashhurst-Pohanglna, annual meeting, whlleh takes place to-day. Daytime Is a warm favorite for the Cup, and The Speaker may be his toughest opponent. In the Pohangina Handicap, the charts quote Esthonla and Lady General very short, but Matatua may troublo [he best of them. Combustion looks well with 10.9 In the Hurdles, and Kyoto and Sir Fanciful are nicely weighted in the Flying Handicap. Woolahra and Demades have been showing good track form, and should show up in the Koraaka Welter, while in the Maiden, Sweet Song may be the best of a rough lot. The. Raumal Welter will see Hed Signal and Goldahinf _ In, action, and! proceedings will close with the Gorge Handicap, in which Goldahlne (If reserved), and Sir Fanciful will carrying money.'
