MEETINGOFGENERAL COMMITTEE. A meeting of the General Committee of the Taranaki A. and P. Society was held on Saturday afternoon, Mr. W. B. Grant (President) occupying the chair. There was a large attendance. The following recommendations of the Executive Committee were approved:— That the North Taranaki cricket Association be allowed the use of the Society's grounds at a nominal rent of £1 for the season and 10 per cent, of any gate takings provided no alterations were made to the grounds without the consent of the Grounds Committee. That a class he inserted in the Winter Show Dairy Produce section, providing for competition for special prizes (of a total value of £18) offered by the Viking Rennet Co., of New Plymouth, through the National Dairy Association, the prizes to be for the classes made with that particular rennet, gaining the highest points in the class. In regard to a suggestion from the annual conference of the Council of Agriculture concerning a standard .ule for measuring horses with shoes on, it was decided to communicate with the Stratford, Hawera and Wanganui Societies, conveying the suggestion that J-inch be allowed for shoes on ponies up to 13 hands, and J-inch for all horses over 13 hands. All horses to be measured before entering the ring. That where two or more horses tie in jumping events, even after an additional round had been ordered, all the names should be engraved on the trophy, and the Society hold same for the period between the shows, the tie not to count as a "leg in" for the trophy. Mr. Burton, who attended the conference as the Society's delegate, gave a report on the proceedings, and was heartily thanked for his services. . Mr. Honeyfield reported receiving a donation of £6 from Mr. F. J. Greenaway, and a vote of thanks was passed to the donor. It was decided to devote the maount to the grounds improvement fund. Donations of £1 Is each were received from Messrs Hy. Benton, and L. Jackson towards the grounds improvement fund, and they were also thanked for the same. Messrs Grant, Washer, Fairbrother, Hoskin, Sampson, and Pigott were appointed to select judges for the 1920 autumn show. The name of Mr. S. A. Campbell was added to the General Committee. It was decided that all protests must be lodged within 24 hourß from the time of judging. Mr. F. Cornwall donated . a special prize for the cow with the best milk vessel in the aged classes in uie Jersey section. The question of an increase in the prize money in the Hunters' Championship Competition was referred to a subcommittee. A donor, who desired to remain anonymous, gave £6 to the Society, and the amount was allocated to the harness ponies class at the show. A very hearty vote of thanks was accorded to Mr. J. S. Connett for his services in connection with securing a long lease of the Rewa Rewa rifle range property. . The following new members were elected:—Messrs J. W. Thomas (Bell Block) ,H. Cocker (New Plymouth), R. O'Byrne (Egmont Village), J. G. Calvert (Hillsborough), S. Gaisford (Awakino), A. E. Wickham (Carrington Road), P. H. Wellington (Omata), F. Coward (Hillsboro'), and E. Mouat (Waitoitoi). SPECIAL PRIZES. The Schedule Revision Committee reported to the meeting, and the following allocations of special prizes were made: The N.Z. Milking Shorthorns Association's special prize .of £2 2s for the best yearling bull- in the Milking Shorthorn section. Mr. J. Hodges' (Rapanui) special prize of £2 2s for the most points scored in the Milking Shorthorn section. Mr. A, Ward's (Miro) silver cup, for most points scored in the Pedigree Frie»ian section. Mr. J. W. J. Gardiner's (Lowgarth) cup for the most points in the Jersey section The Milking Shorthorns Association's special prize of £3 3s, for the best yearling heifer in shorthorn section. Mr. A. J. Luxton's silver "cup (value £lO 10s) for the best two dairy cows (any breed or cross) the same to be judged on type, by the judges of the Jersey, Ayrshire, Friesian and Dairy Cattle divisions. Mr. H. Greiner's gold nfedal will also be given to the winner in the same class. In each instance the cups to be won twice in succession or three times at intervals before becoming the property of the exhibitor. » The Taranaki Herald and Budget's special prizes: First £3, second £2, and third £l, for an amateur judging competition, in which competitors must be under 25 years of age.
