DISCONTENTS IN AMERICA.
ARRESTS AND DEPORTATION. By Telesraph— Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Nov. 15, 5.5 p.m. San Francisco, Nov. 12. A message from Seattle states that the Department of Justice officials are working fast rounding up members of the I.W.W. into a dragnet at Portland, Tacoma and San Francisco. The large number taken will be immediately deported wherever possible. American returned men have made a formal demand, backed by many other societies, that immediate action be taken to all members of the I.W.W. in restraint. This is the* result of the discovery of a German propaganda branch of the I.W.W. at fortla;id. —Reuter Service. ARREST OF SOVIET AMBASSADOR. Receive<L>Nov. 16, 11.45 p.m. New York, Nov. 15. A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Ludwig Martens, the Soviet Ambassador, charging him with contempt of the Legislative Committee, which is investigating the radical activities. The contempt proceedings arose as a result of his refusal to appear before the Legislative Committee and to disclose his communications with the Soviet Government He pleaded ambassadorial immunitv.
