FATHER'S TERRIBLE ACT.
TWO CHILDREN MURDERED. A shocking tragedy occurred recently in a house in Palmer Street, Balmain, Sydney, where Raymond Bede Flenadry, his wife, hid two children, aged three months and about .18 months, and his wife's parents, resided. Early in the evening Mrs. Flenadry returned from ,an! errand, and, ou entering the gateway, saw the eldest girl lying dead in a pool of blood on the verandah. In the kitchen she found her young baby lying on the floor. The heads were almost severed from the, bodies. Mrs. Lenine, the wife's mother, attracted by the cries, went to the kitchen, where she found the father bending over the dead baby. He walked to the verandah and rushed towards his other child. Mrs. Lenine, who is over 50 years of age, put up a plucky fight for the child's life, but collapsed. The next she saw was the child lying dead in a pool of blood. A remarkable scene followed. The father walked ( to the kitdhen, knelt down, and kissed the dead baby. Then, without saying a word, he went back to the verandah and ' kissed and said good-bye to the older child. Immediately afterwards he left the house and surrendered himself to the local police. He has been charged with murdering the children. Pie has been examined by the Government medical officer, and his wife, who became seriously ill after the tragedy, is also receiving medical atten- [ tion.
