GRATUITIES FOR HOME SERVICE.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —The? Australian Government paid a home service gratuity, showing that they appreciated the work done by the home service men, but in New Zealand so far as I can make out, the Government does not appreciate the work done by home service men, but still they appreciated tho work done by men who stayed in a base camp in England and granted them Is 6d per day. I ask you, is not the case of a man returned from the front (wounded) and unable to return to the front again, and who worked strenuously on home Bervlcc, the same as a man staying in a base camp in England and receiving Is 6d per day for every day abroad. In my opinion [ think that all home service men should receive not less than Is per day war gratuity, and I am sure everyone will agree with me that they descrvo some recognition for their services, seeing that they were unfit to go to the front, but served their country as best they possibly could. —I am etc , "DIGGER" (Main Body and Home Service) New Plymouth, Nov. itf, 1919.
