(By Telegraph.—Special to News.) Chrlstchurch, Last Night. The conditions were very pleasant for the continuation of the Canterbury Jockey Club's treating. Tha attendance did not seem to be so large as on the earlier days, but the totallsator investments reached £60,686. ThaTe was some first-class sport marred only by two falls, one of which may prove serious. A field of three lined up for the Port Coope Hurdles. Achllledes had ten lengths lead at one stage, but Paraoa bad his measure half a mile from home, when he blundered at a hurdle. A little further on Hylans Joined Achllledes, and he won by a length, while Faraoa got up In the last stride to get second money. Hylans had a bad reputation when trained at Riccarton, and he was sold at a low figure a few months ago. He has been a great bargain, having won a flat race and three hurdle races, and be;n secoid In another race the middle of Scptem-

Listening Post was favorite (or the Fprlng Nursery Handicap, and he led all the way, winning comfortably from Wake, who was always second, with La Ffcix finishing fust In third place. Cantabile again showed pace, but failed to run on.

The field for tho Otaio Plate numbered nine and there was a fine contest. Bingham tried to win from end to end, and hod such a lead half a mile from home that ho lo'ikad a certainty. A little further 011 he collapsed, heing replaced by the favw.itu Sea Sprite, who was beaten below tho ditsanoe. In a great finish, First Salute won from Wardancer and Glenshlne, with Starland olosi up. ft was a lucky win as WarUalicer was kept In the rear till half the journey had been covered and then, just failed. With «u ounce of luck lie would have won easily. Afterglow was a strong favorite for the Canterbury Cup, with Vagabond second chr.lce Affectation went out In front and set a, sound pace for six furlongs, wlien Kilmoon tool; charge for a similar distance. Mjasfint then ran past and she scored a comfortable win. Affectation looked certain for second money, but Lucid got a good run on the rails, and beat tho Walrarapa colt by a head. The others were well. back. The favorite lip. Afterglow, never flattered his backers nt irny utr.ge.

A field of eleven lined up for tho Jockej Club Handicap. For some reason Me'ee was a wrong favbrite, but at no stage did lie look like u winner. Inah led to the straigut and then retijed, leaving Maloha to win lasily from Eleus, who put up a good performance as he got ofT slowly and then met with interference. Sliver Link was In second place most of the way, but the final furlong beat her. Kipling w»p fourth, but made no impression on lite front lot in tho straight, ltemos fell after going about three furlongs. The mishap Was due to Intervenes, bur. the officials have not got to the bottom of it, an Inquiry being adjourned till Saturday. There was a great finish for the Oaks, which attracted a field of nine. Miss Mimic and Hoyal Exchange led to the straight, when the latter retired Warlove and Rose Wreath ran past Miss Mimic Inside the distance, I JriMM fit. WiAn«W.- tfe» OUMidM at tb« Stick

put In a great run nod beat Rose Wreath by a head, but failed by a neck to catch Warlove. The winner, who Is a full-slstor to Warstep, is a rare galloper and stayer who can be made a lot better.

A big fleld of twenty-four hacks took Jjnrt tft the Randolph Handicap. flight Bells, the second favorite, was flrst out and led to tho distance, where she beat a hasty retreat. Flight Commander then went on and won comfortably by two lengths from the fast finishing Russet, with Bombproof three lengths back, followed by Sans Souci finishing Weil, and Steepholm, who suffered interference. Tho winner was not much fancied and he dues not appear to be quite reliable. Just after passing tho winning post Mandrake fell. Fleetham toppling over him. J l . W. Ellis, the rider of Mandrake, got » nast/v' spill and was taken to the hospital. It Js feared his injuries are sorious.

The day's sport was concluded with the Avon Welter Handicap. Macduff was favorite, but he got off badly and had to he satisfied with finishing fourth. Astinome was always one of the front lot and jU3t lasted long enough to beat Gamecock, who camo with a brilliant run and headed Arch Lasslo on the post. Motuihl and Cerberus were prominent early, but they faded out al the end. A feature of the meeting «o far lias been tho success of Martian's progeny in long' dlstoljce races, their winning record including the New Zealand Cup, the Canterbury Cup, the Derby and tho Oaka. AUCKLAND RACES. THE CONCLUDING DAT. ! BENZINE DROPS DEAD. ™ , Jf Auckland. Last Night. Tho concluding day of the Auckland flacln" ClubfT spring meeting wns held to-day. The weather was fine but dull.
